Aberdeen low emission zones

Aberdeen City Council’s application to Transport Scotland’s Low Emission Zone (LEZ) support fund 2019/20 to continue with the process of determining the optimum fit for a LEZ in Aberdeen was successful.

The city’s Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) has been identified as the area of most concern due to the volume of air quality exceedance compared to other regions throughout Aberdeen.

The council is currently engaging with stakeholders that are most likely to be impacted by the introduction of a LEZ, with full public and stakeholder engagement likely to take place early in 2020.

The enforcement of a LEZ in Aberdeen is dependent on progress of the Transport (Scotland) Bill through Parliament, and following that, the preparation of the necessary regulations and guidance.
